Elton James Managing Director Elton James began his career at JP Morgan in 1996, in the Equities Division, where he soon developed an a strong interest in Equity Derivatives trading and began working in this area, and his career saw him spending time across a range of top tier investment banks, including Barclays Capital, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch. Whilst at Lehman Brothers, Elton co-founded the central Risk Hub for the Equity division as well as working as a Equity Derivative Portfolio Manager in the internal Lehman Brothers Hedge Fund. During his career, Elton has also been Head of Equity Index Flow Trading which is where the majority of his experience was gained. After the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy in 2008, Barclays Capital Proprietary Trading desk offered Elton the opportunity to continue his trading experience under a new umbrella. In September 2009, with the general lack of enthusiasm for proprietary trading operations across the market, Elton decided to set up Mariana Capital Markets as a differentiated boutique brokerage, offering the services he felt were lacking during his time in the markets.
Daniel Hawkins Director Daniel Hawkins started his career in Finance at F&C Management Ltd after completing his Masters in Theoretical Physics at Durham University, trading Equity Volatility and Correlation in the Alternative Investment area of the firm. After the completion of his CFA Charter in 2005, he joined Lehman Brothers to form the Equity Derivatives Strategy Team, responsible for hedge fund analytics and trading strategies for both external clients and for inclusion in internal trading books within the firm. After successfully building a well-regarded team in the market, he was promoted to Vice President and European Head of Equity Derivatives Strategy, overseeing a team of 6 analysts at its peak. After the demise of Lehman, Daniel was targeted by Nomura as a key employee to drive the product offering of the firm via creative derivative solutions and trading opportunities in the Equity Derivative space. In the second half of 2009, Daniel left Nomura to begin working on the idea of Mariana Capital Markets as a founding Partner of this venture. Daniel is currently a CFA Charterholder and holds the Certificate of Quantitative Finance Designation.
Sebastien Krol Director Sebastien Krol started his career in Risk Management at Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi in Luxembourg, specializing in Equity Derivatives, after completing his Masters in Mathematics at the Institut de Science Financiere et d’Assurances in Lyon. After a couple of years, Sebastien relocated to London to work in the Quantitative Analyst in the Alternative Investment unit at F&C Asset Management focused on Volatility and Correlation trading strategies. In 2007, Sebastien was targeted by Lehman Brothers to expand their Equity Derivatives strategy team and left F&C to join his former colleague Daniel Hawkins at the US Investment Bank. At Lehman, Sebastien was responsible for boosting the quantitative offering of the strategy team by developing quantitative infrastructure and further systematic trading strategies in flow volatility products. When Lehman Brothers went bankrupt in 2008, Sebastien followed the team over to Nomura to strengthen their offering in this area. In 2009, Sebastien left Nomura to work as a founding Partner at Mariana Capital Markets where he was initially responsible for developing the quantitative infrastructure for the firm.
Kaveh Rahbary Director Kaveh Rahbary joined Lehman Brothers in 2005, after having completed his degree at London School of Economics. In 2006 he joined the Hedge Fund flow desk. On this desk, he was initially responsible for helping to cover the client base of the entire desk. After a year, he quickly rose through the ranks and was moved onto the Convertible Bonds desk where he used the expertise gained in the Options market to transfer over to the Convertible Bonds desk at Lehman, where he was responsible for a number of accounts as he changed his focus to the specialist Convertible Bond market. After the demise of Lehman Brothers, Kaveh was part of the team that moved over to Nomura and in the second half of 2009, Kaveh left Nomura to begin working on the idea of Mariana Capital Markets as a founding Partner of this venture.
Rajvinder Minhas Director Rajvinder Minhas started his career in the City in 2004 on the Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein Hedge Fund Sales desk, after completing his degree at London School of Economics. On this desk, he built a reputation for a strong focus on idea generation a particular focus on the growing light exotics market. In 2006, with the huge focus on this market being pursued by Lehman Brothers, he joined the very well regarded Lehman Hedge Fund Sales desk. Since joining Lehman, Raj was consistently one of the top producers on the desk and promoted to Vice President prior to the demise of the bank. He was targeted as one of the key producers when Nomura took over the stricken bank, although he was forced to reinvent his sales offering as the exotic market almost seized to trade. Despite this change of market focus, Raj continued to outperform his peers and was again one of top producers in Europe. In 2011, Raj joined the boutique brokerage firm Mariana Capital as a Partner and Head of Sales to bring his expertise from the investment banking arena into the brokerage world. |
